Terry Fry

Terry M. Fry, age 76, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on May 14, 2022. He was born in Rochelle on September 27, 1945 the son of Charles and Norma (Smith) Fry. He married Diana Judd on December 10, 1966 in Rockford. He enlisted in the US Navy where he specialized in communications. Once he left the navy, he worked in quality assurance for NavAir until retirement. He was a very proud veteran who collected and displayed navy memorabilia and photographs of the ships he served on. He always enjoyed visiting his family in California and making sure to attend the yearly USS Gompers reunion every year. He was a member of Beacon Hill Assembly of God in Byron. In his free time; Terry enjoyed tinkering with things and feeding the squirrels, birds, rabbits and other animals outside around his home. He is survived by his children, Kelly (Bill) Hicok of Lakeside, CA and Michael Fry of Byron; sister, Connie (Dennis) Mudd of Rockford; grandchildren, Nicole Hicok and Joshua Hicok; and niece and nephews, Stephanie Mudd, Charles Mudd, Sam Fry and Dan Fry. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Diana, and brother Steve. A memorial service to celebrate Terry’s well lived life will be held at 12:00 PM with refreshments to follow on Saturday May 28, 2022 at Beacon Hill Assembly of God Church, 6467 N German Church Rd, Byron with Pastor Gary Cortese of the church officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 – 12:00 prior to the service. Memorials are established for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
