Thomas Fane

OREGON, IL ~ Thomas “Tom” E. Fane, 80, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side in their Oregon home on Friday, April 25, 2025. He was born on August 28, 1944, in Dixon, IL, the son of Eugene and (H)Louise (Miller) Fane. He graduated from Dixon High School and went on to attend Northwestern University. After his time in Evanston, he dedicated over 40 years to Woods as an IT programmer. Tom married the love of his life Deborah Bennett in Oregon, IL, on June 18, 1993. They spent the next 32 years together building a life in the Oregon community. Tom had a well-known passion for golf; not only did he play faithfully in the Tuesday Night Golfers League, but he could also reliably be found on the Silver Ridge fairways any given weekend. Beyond golf, he was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, along with the Blackhawks- when they were winning that is. Tom had a noted adoration for muscle and sports cars as well, curating an impressive collection over the years. Recognized by many for his quippish sense of humor, Tom always had a joke at the ready. Above all, Tom’s greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Henry Kasper and Jack Sitter. He is survived by his loving wife Deb Fane of Oregon, IL; sons Dennis Fane and David Fane of Toledo, OH; sisters Betty Kasper and Barbara Sitter of Dixon, IL; special golf partner Uncle Terry Lewis of Rockford, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation rites are scheduled with a celebration of life at Silver Ridge Golf Course Clubhouse at 3069 N. Hill Rd, Oregon, IL, 61061 on May 19th from 4pm-7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to one of his favorite charities: Boys Town or St Jude's.
