Virgil "Vick" Lloyd Richardson, age 85, passed away in his home with his loving wife of over 67 years by his side holding his hand. Virgil was born on March 21, 1938 in the family farmhouse in Polo, Illinois. He is the son of Lloyd C Richardson and Helen (Folkers) Richardson. Virgil married his sweetheart Beverly Mumford on November 5, 1955 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, where they have been members ever since. Virgil was a tradesman with a strong work ethic. He worked at Coalmasters and Helle's Lumber during his early married life. He then spent many years doing maintenance for the Oregon School District. He also owned his own HVAC & Refrigeration repair business called Richardson Refrigeration. Vick then spent many years working as a pipefitter at Quebcor Printing Company in Mt. Morris, IL where he eventually retired from. Virgil then went on to obtain his G.E.D. and realtor license in his 60s! Virgil was a devoted family man. He loved his wife and was never afraid to show it. Their marriage was a true example of the love and commitment they promised before God. He supported his children in any way he could through the ups and downs of life. He loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. He gave tractor rides, taught them how to build things, teased them, and made them each feel special in their own way. Virgil loved woodworking, westerns, and this country. Most of all, he loved The Lord. Virgil was welcomed to Heaven by the loving arms of his parents and his three children Tony and Jeff Richardson and Cindy Stocker. Virgil is survived and missed dearly by his soulmate and wife Beverly, his two daughters Brenda Harrolle of Oregon, IL and Rhonda (Tim) Duffy of Stillman Valley, IL; Grandchildren: Lacynda (Tony) Morris, Tim (Marie) Richardson, April (Mike) Dickey, Chad (Angie) Harrolle, Dustin (Heather) Harrolle, Tanya (Neil) Cox, Chet Harrolle, Lucas (Tish) Hart, Matthew (Mercedes) Rutherford, Tom (Lindsey) Broadway, Kristen Broadway (Earl Mohame), Clay Duffy, and Connor Duffy. He is also survived by many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and even a couple on the way! Virgil and his family were so thankful for all who helped and cared for him, especially Jill Carr (Mercyhealth physical therapy), who became like another daughter, and always made Virgil smile AND sit up straight; the entire amazing Oregon ambulance crew who helped many times and Virgil loved to chat with as they were picking him up; the entire dedicated Serenity Hospice staff who lovingly cared for the entire family, but especially our dear Chloe, who brought a smile and peace every time she entered the home. A special thanks to caregiver Wendy who got one of the last smiles out of Virgil with her silliness. And finally, a heartfelt thanks for Pastor Rasmussen who prayed, read scripture, gave communion, and visited Virgil regularly since he was unable to attend church. All of you were a blessing. A visitation is being held from 10-11 am on Thursday October 5, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Oregon, IL, 114 S. Fifth St. A funeral service will follow at 11 am with Pastor Carl Rasmussen officiating and musician Jamey Young. Virgil will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon, IL. Memorial donations can be made to the family to be determined at a later date.
